I admit that I actually finished this book a while ago, but have not had a chance to post a review until now. This is the second book in the Carrie Diaries series and I could have sworn I review the first one, but looking back through my archives it appears that I did not. The Carrie Diary was a good book and definitely set the stage for Carrie Bradshaw moving to New York City and meeting Samantha Jones. In the second novel we find out what happened during that eventful summer.
Summer in the City tells the story of Carrie Bradshaw’s summer in New York City and how she eventually decides to stay in the city after the summer. We catch with Carrie after she gets off the train and meets Samantha. She has a crazy night with Samantha Jones and then finds her way to her rented apartment provided by the New School. When that living situation does not end up working out Carrie moves in with Samantha and begins to have even wilder adventures than she dreamed possible. During this time she meets Miranda Hobbs outside a department store protesting and they quickly become fast friends. In this novel for viewers who watched Sex and the City almost religiously while it was on in its hay day and spend more infrequent hours watching it in syndication on TBS, we find out why Carrie really hates Capote Duncan. I will not give away any spoilers, but I will say that it involves repeated run ins all over the city other than the first meeting at the New School.
I recommend that you give the series a chance if you are a fan of Sex and the City and if you love Candace Bushnell almost as much as I do. I have not been able to catch the Carrie Diaries tv show on the CW network yet, but I’ll definitely let you know what I think about it when I do.
I can’t wait to see you in my next post!
