Movie Review:Eat Pray Love

12 / 4 / 108 / 14 / 17

Opening weekend for the movie, I was lucky enough to go to a free screening with my mom. The screening was from my obgyn’s office, sorry if that weirds you out, but it’s true. So in a theatre of mostly women I watched Eat Pray Love. I had no real notions about the movie since I had not read the book and had only seen a few commercials for it. ( I sometimes tend to live a busy life that lends me to get my new primarily online via the email or twitter).

I can say that I loved Julia Roberts in this movie. I’m not a huge fan of hers though I do think that she is great in many ways. Everything about this movie was amazing. It made me want to travel, experience, and do so much more, not that I haven’t this summer but that is for another post. The movie was a visual and intellectual experience that was worth while.

My mom has not seen a movie in the theatre for a very long time. I would say that possibly the last movie she saw was Memories of Tommorrow with my aunt. I was worried that she would not enjoy the movie and would complain about random things in it. Instead my mom loved the movie and even said that she bet that my sister-in-law would be incredibly sad that she missed out.

Now granted the movie is deemed a chick flick by many critics since there are no explosions, no one dies, and there is heart felt emotions with tons of kissing. As my mom says there is something in the movie for everyone. Javier Bardem and James Franco star as the 2 main men in Julia Roberts lives and portray the men at two very different points in their lives. Julia Roberts character learns something from everyone she meets including the men in her life.

I won’t by any means spoil truly spoil the movie for you. If you really need to know read the book or check out a spoilers page. I’m here to simply tell you to get out and see the movie whether it is on a date with your significant other, on a girls night out, or simply by yourself. Let yourself get lost in the movie, let it move your to tears, let it make you want to enjoy life by eating, praying, and loving.

Style: Jewelry I recommend

12 / 4 / 10

Lately, it seems that I have been buying a lot of jewelry. I’m rather picky about my jewelry but I’ve found a few designers that are a little off the beaten path that I’d recommend.

I have been hunting for the perfect key necklace for the longest time but I have never found one. This Spring, I found one that I actually liked on Etsy purely by accident. I was stumbling around the site looking at *gasp* Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland jewelry when I stumbled upon Lucinda Charms. I actually wasn’t going to be the Harry Potter or Alice in Wonderland jewelry, but I do think that it is fascinating to see what people come up with. Pictured below is the key necklace I got from her.

If I was actually able to find her business card at the moment I could tell you more about her. However, I do love the size of the key not to big and not to small. Very old key style and well done. The item came relatively fast and I didn’t have any problems with the postal service. It was also beautifully packaged. You can check out more of her jewelry on Etsy.

Most recently,I discovered Rock Love Jewelry. I’m not gonna lie, but I sometime shop for Christmas gifts all year around. It’s kind of smart thing to do really. If I know there is something that you like I’ll try to find a something specially designed for it or inspired by it. I found Rock Love Jewelry when I was looking through a friend’s myspace page. She knows one of the models for Rock Love Jewelry can’t remember her name though. I checked out the site and they had some pretty cool designs and had even designed the necklace Miley Cyrus wore in her Party in the USA video. However, I was most intrigued by the necklace they had designed for Repo! The Genetic Opera. The first necklace they designed was a scalpel, which was limited edition and sold out by the time I stumbled upon the site. The latest necklace is the zydrate gun which is also in limited quantites. As you can see in the picture below, all my items came in their own separate jewelry boxes which are pinstriped designed and have her business cards. The designer also included a hand written note and a black cherry almond candle.

Here’s what the heart bracelet looks like on!

The zydrate gun is on the left. I’ll be giving it to her this Christmas. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t read my blog, but if she does my plan has been foiled. On the right is the bracelet I bought myself. It’s a filagree heart charm in the same style as Tiffany’s. I promised I hadn’t meant to pick up something for me it just happened. I definitely recommend Rock Love Jewelry, you should check her out!

The last designer, WJS jewelry, I can most definitely recommend though I don’t have a picture to show you. I’ve been purchasing pieces of jewelry from her since I was in high school. She still creates some of those pieces I first purchased, but her hawaiian bracelet collection is definitely worth a look. I’ve been pondering getting another bracelet from her for years. If you get a chance definitely check out WJS jewelry.

Odd Desires

12 / 4 / 10

It is not unusual for me to be in on a Friday night these days especially with the economy the way it is. There are some weekends I feel that I should spend more days out and about meeting new people rather than trying to save money. Although, if you have suggestions for free things I won’t pass it up;)

This is not why I’m writing this entry though. Lately, I’ve felt an odd and peculiar desire to become a parent and to be married. I know it is not uncommon for my age, yet I feel that it is a weird thing for me to feel right now.
I am completely unattached to anyone at the moment and for the most part I enjoy it. I do give into the fact that I still live with my ‘rents which comes at a huge disadvantage on several levels, but I’m slowly but surely progressing from out of this situation. The days I don’t enjoy being single are the days I feel like I should either have more single girl friends or have a “Fun Buddy”. Yes, I’m aware that in the past I have resent the idea of a “Fun Buddy” but there are times I just want to lie in someone’s arm and feel safe.

The desire to become a parent comes at a complete surprise to me because my brother recently became a parent and not really planning to created a heavy disadvantage for him. You never really realize how extravagantly you have been living your life until you have a child and know that you have to think about other things. Granted that my brother became a parent and a husband in one fail swoop, it still doesn’t take away from the reality of the situation. I know that I shouldn’t want a child now since I have no means of taking care of it and would have no idea what to do . It still doesn’t put the idea too far out of my mind.
Things change in the blink of an eye, right? So things could be different for me in a matter of months, days, or years. When I tell my friends I have been having good luck coming my way, they always without fail begin with the phrase “does that mean there is a wedding in the near future?” I laugh and considering I haven’t seriously dated anyone in a while can’t possibly pictured getting married.

These odd and peculiar desires still remain.

Things that make me happy

12 / 4 / 10

So people often wonder about what to get me as gifts and what makes me happy so here’s a list:

1. Peppermint Mocha Frappaccinos from Starbucks only offered during Winter holiday season or Winter Dream Tea Latte from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf if you prefer.

2. Jake Shimabukuro cds any new release or Japan release but consult.I have a rather large Jake collection 🙂

3. Dinner at new restaurants/Free food. I ‘m not a connoisseur of food by any right, but I’m always a sucker for restaurants I haven’t tried and my fave foods that are given to me I never turn down.

4. Concert tickets! I will never turn down a concert unless the band is absolutely horrible, I’ve already seen them and they didn’t live up to expectations, I have to work, or I already have tickets to said concert.

5. Visits from friends from far away are always nice! I love ♥ seeing my friends, but don’t get to see a lot of them ’cause most of them live far away, so when I do it’s always a nice surprise!

If this list doesn’t work for you don’t get me anything, but just wish me happy birthday or whatever season it is.

Movie Review: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

12 / 4 / 108 / 14 / 17

I’ll admit I was kind of looking forward to this movie. Since, Heath’s death I was willing to go into it with an open mind, no preconceived notions of what Colin, Jude, or Johnny could do. Undoubtedly, they are all amazing actors whose talent I can’t even begin to measure in this blog. The movie also had a good ensemble cast. The fanciful world of the imaginarium is amazing and could be comparable to the candy world of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Garden or the mysterious world in Reel Big Fish. The acting of Colin, Jude, and Johnny were seamlessly woven into the storyline.

The movie in many ways reminded me about religion and how things change as the years past. Perhaps I’m baised and wanting to see that. I think the storyline leads you to believe that the battle between Dr. Paranassus and the devil is truly a significant never ending battle that contiually occurs in our world today. The only thing I was left wondering as the film finished was how would the film turned out if Heath hadn’t died?

Go see this film.

This post went up on the blog yesterday, but here' This post went up on the blog yesterday, but here's a short synopsis with less words. Interesting book. Reads a bit like Birds of Prey the movie where Harley Quinn is narrating the story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 stars I also thought the sketchy style of art was an interesting twist as compared to the rest of the books. Would recommend although it feels like it could use a sequel 😉 #jamiereads #52books #bookblogger #bookstagram #❤️

Pretty basic story of how Mr. Freeze (Friese) meet his wife and how it all went awry. although you know the series is all set in highschool. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 recommend.
