I’m back again with yet another book review. I know that I am unintentionally turning this into a book blog, but at least you have consistent posts from me for a little bit right?!?
Let’s get back to the topic at hand. This book review in case you haven’t noticed is about the book Starry Eyes by Jenny Bennett. This was the group book for the Creating & Co Readathon: Relaxathon. I had seen this book in Target a couple of times but never had the urge to pick it up. I’m kind of glad that I was forced to read it for the readathon now.
This book is about a teenage girl named Zorie, who in the past year has tried to have a relationship with her best friend Lennon. After a falling out at the Homecoming Dance and her dad banning her from ever speaking to him again things start to get heated. The family massage clinic in which Zorie’s parents own sits right next door to Lennon’s parents sex shop which often results in mis delivered mail and shouting matches. When a mysterious package to Zorie’s mom gets mis delivered to sex shop Zorie and Lennon have their first real interaction after a year of not speaking. After that they are thrust together on a glamping trip that goes seriously awry and that’s when things start to get interesting.
I will try and keep my promise to not spoil the ending of the book too much, but it was definitely YA romance good. This book definitely took me about 100 pages to get into which for me to take that long to get into a book usually means I’m dropping it. Thankfully I kept pushing through and it got good. I especially loved all the parts with hiking and camping aside from the snake incident. It almost made me want to go camping.
Let me know if you have read this book and what you thought. If you have any recommendations for books I should read this year, let me know 🙂 Hopefully I’ll have a few more life posts in the coming months. I’ll see you soon with another post.
