I’m back again with yet another book review and honestly I thought about not posting this one due to the fact that I’ve posted so many book reviews in recent months, but the timing that I bought this book made it so that I simply had to share.
I recently finished Carrie Fisher’s The Princess Diarist. These are her memoirs from filming the first Star Wars film. I thought that it was uncanny that I bought this book ironically on the first anniversary of her death. I honestly didn’t mean to, I was browsing Barnes & Noble and somehow that the thought struck me to buy her book and not something else. I think it was fate or something.
For being only 256 pages this book took me longer to read than I had anticipated. This is the first of Carrie Fisher’s books that I’ve read, so honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was drawn in by her ramble sentences and the way she talks about her mother, Debbie Reynolds in a sort of matter of fact way. When she finally gets to the part about filming the first Star Wars movie and all her memories you can’t help, but get caught up in the rambles of the movie. She has even included parts of her diary during that time and even talks about her affair with Harrison Ford in the strangest sense.
Ms Fisher’s brute honesty about the movie and fans is quite refreshing as compared to other people’s memories on Star Wars and the fancifulness of it all. I would definitely recommend that you read this book, but remember that I said that she had a brute honesty about her writing, so just say that you were warned if you are a crazy Star Wars fan.
This is my first finished book of 2018 and I can’t wait to dive in for more. Let me know what you have been reading lately and what you recommend.
