Welcome to the twentieth day of October! I hope that your year has been going well. If you have been with me a while, you will know that every year I attempt to watch a lot of scary movies for October mostly to cure myself of my wariness of scary movies. When I started this series several years ago, I could barely sit through a scary movie to save my life. Now since doing this series I can say that I am much better. Last year, I decided to attempt to add books to this series. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up completing this series last year, but I have high hopes for this year 😉
On the twentieth day, today’s movie is 47 Meters Down. This came as a Netflix recommendation, so that if you have been with me a while you will know that Netflix and I have a very strange relationship. So I will leave this review here.
Here’s a quick rundown of the movie in case you haven’t heard of it: Mandy Moore plays the cautious sister Lisa, who goes on a vacation with her adventurous sister Kate. While on vacation, Lisa finally comes clean to her sister about her boyfriend leaving her. Her sister Kate decides that Lisa needs to get out of her shell and make her ex-boyfriend jealous with all the pictures from their trip to Mexico. Lisa and Kate meet a pair of guys that offer to take them on a cage diving with sharks as they know a guy. The group convinces the owner of the boat that Lisa is a certified scuba diver even though she has never been scuba diving before. At first things appear to be going well then when the girls are in the cage just as they are supposed to get pulled up the pulley holding the cage disengages from the boat and the cage falls to the ocean floor a full 47 meters down.
As promised I won’t spoil the ending for the movie for you in case you want to watch it. There were parts of this movie that was scary and there were parts that I wasn’t that impressed with, but overall I thought it was a well done movie. I think that you have had a fear of sharks due to any number of shark movies you will definitely feel scared by this. I wasn’t that scared by this movie, but it definitely made me rethink cage diving with sharks and a certain amount of going to the beach.
Let me know if you have seen this movie and what you thought of it. I hope that you have been enjoying this series even though some of the movies have been bad. I hope that you will continue to stay tuned throughout the month to see what other posts I have planned. See you again soon!
