Today’s movie is Jaws 2.
When I did the view of Jaws, I knew that I would need to do the whole series no matter how bad it got. Yes, this series still makes me afraid of the ocean and deeply afraid of sharks, so you probably won’t hear about me going into the water anytime soon.
Here’s the rundown on the movie: This 1978 movie is done a few years after the original movie. We find ourselves back on Amity Island several years after the first movie happens and Sheriff Brody’s children are slightly older. The town welcomes the opening of a new hotel to the area and Sheriff Brody is still avoiding the ocean as mush as he can. The first shark attack in the movie is of 2 divers after discovering the wreckage of the orca. The next shark attack is of a speedboat and a surfer with the shark taking down the surfer first before circling back for the driver this time there are witnesses to the attack, but they don’t notice the shark. The shark gets bruises from this attack. A few days later a whale carcus washes up onto the shores of one of the beaches and Brody’s oldest son, Mike discovers the body. Sheriff Brody goes to the mayor and the town council and asks them to close the beaches due to the shark attack. The mayor and the council refuse and Brody takes it into his own hands to watch the beach. After an embarrassing false shark sighting Brody is fired as Sheriff and his two sons sneak out of the house to go hangout with their friends on a boat.
I will keep to my promise and not spoil the entire movie for you. There’s another ambiguous ending in which the shark dies, but the people aren’t in safety. Sorry, if that’s a spoiler, but it is what happened. At this second movie, I was particularly annoyed by the mayor and council for not believing Sheriff Brody on the shark attack. How can you be so unfeeling about people’s lives?!? It’s even more annoying when his own sons don’t believe him. I suppose I’ll keep watching the series even though it’s beginning to annoy me more than scare me.
I hope that you enjoyed this selection of the Scaretober series and that you will keep coming back throughout the month to see what other movies I watch. Also if you would like to see what movies that I have watched in the past you can find them here. Also feel free to leave suggestions on videos or movies that you think I should watch. See you soon!
