My thoughts on books, movies, tv shows and more

Olympics 2010 and Wolfman

12 / 4 / 108 / 14 / 17

There is still trouble concentrating at work although there are only a couple of days of the Olympics left. Apolo Ohno is absolutely amazing! You should see him skate and if you haven’t caught his twitter posting sometimes amazingly inspirational. Shaun White domminating on Half Pipe was way cool. I wish I could have caught all his interviews, lol! Louie Vito up and coming Half Pipe Champ way cool  and way to represent. Evan Lysacek is amazing and remaining extremely cool despite the junk flying around after his win. I could go on and on about the Olympics, but perhaps I’ll save that for another time. My family is making me feel weird about the whole thing because they aren’t watching the Olympics at all, its as if no one cares. It’s just another day in the sporting world, has it really come to that?!?

Wolfman. Yes, I’ve begun to be able to sit through scary movies. I’ll admit I’m still not good at scary movies but at least I sat through it. I’m building my confidence slowly and it grows everytime I see one. Wolfman was good. I think it was my first Benicio Del Toro film and I can honestly say that he’s amazing.

Maybe another post about random goodness to come soon….Look for it 🙂 In other random news, I’m still working on my sacrifice for Lent which apparently I have failed for the past 2 days. Guess this just gives me more motivation to get back on the wagon. There is good news though, I’ve lost 3lbs which I didn’t want to report at first because I thought it might be a fluke but since it is the second day the scale has read the same thing I’m gonna take it as a sign. Here’s to more good news and more juicy goodness to come!

Movie Review:Eat Pray Love

12 / 4 / 108 / 14 / 17

Opening weekend for the movie, I was lucky enough to go to a free screening with my mom. The screening was from my obgyn’s office, sorry if that weirds you out, but it’s true. So in a theatre of mostly women I watched Eat Pray Love. I had no real notions about the movie since I had not read the book and had only seen a few commercials for it. ( I sometimes tend to live a busy life that lends me to get my new primarily online via the email or twitter).

I can say that I loved Julia Roberts in this movie. I’m not a huge fan of hers though I do think that she is great in many ways. Everything about this movie was amazing. It made me want to travel, experience, and do so much more, not that I haven’t this summer but that is for another post. The movie was a visual and intellectual experience that was worth while.

My mom has not seen a movie in the theatre for a very long time. I would say that possibly the last movie she saw was Memories of Tommorrow with my aunt. I was worried that she would not enjoy the movie and would complain about random things in it. Instead my mom loved the movie and even said that she bet that my sister-in-law would be incredibly sad that she missed out.

Now granted the movie is deemed a chick flick by many critics since there are no explosions, no one dies, and there is heart felt emotions with tons of kissing. As my mom says there is something in the movie for everyone. Javier Bardem and James Franco star as the 2 main men in Julia Roberts lives and portray the men at two very different points in their lives. Julia Roberts character learns something from everyone she meets including the men in her life.

I won’t by any means spoil truly spoil the movie for you. If you really need to know read the book or check out a spoilers page. I’m here to simply tell you to get out and see the movie whether it is on a date with your significant other, on a girls night out, or simply by yourself. Let yourself get lost in the movie, let it move your to tears, let it make you want to enjoy life by eating, praying, and loving.

Movie Review: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

12 / 4 / 108 / 14 / 17

I’ll admit I was kind of looking forward to this movie. Since, Heath’s death I was willing to go into it with an open mind, no preconceived notions of what Colin, Jude, or Johnny could do. Undoubtedly, they are all amazing actors whose talent I can’t even begin to measure in this blog. The movie also had a good ensemble cast. The fanciful world of the imaginarium is amazing and could be comparable to the candy world of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Garden or the mysterious world in Reel Big Fish. The acting of Colin, Jude, and Johnny were seamlessly woven into the storyline.

The movie in many ways reminded me about religion and how things change as the years past. Perhaps I’m baised and wanting to see that. I think the storyline leads you to believe that the battle between Dr. Paranassus and the devil is truly a significant never ending battle that contiually occurs in our world today. The only thing I was left wondering as the film finished was how would the film turned out if Heath hadn’t died?

Go see this film.

This post went up on the blog yesterday, but here' This post went up on the blog yesterday, but here's a short synopsis with less words. Interesting book. Reads a bit like Birds of Prey the movie where Harley Quinn is narrating the story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 stars I also thought the sketchy style of art was an interesting twist as compared to the rest of the books. Would recommend although it feels like it could use a sequel 😉 #jamiereads #52books #bookblogger #bookstagram #❤️
Ahh! This is one of the latest releases in the DC Ahh! This is one of the latest releases in the DC ink line. Pretty basic story of how Mr. Freeze (Friese) meet his wife and how it all went awry. although you know the series is all set in highschool. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 recommend.
