Welcome to the thirteenth day of October! I hope that your year has been going well. If you have been with me a while, you will know that every year I attempt to watch a lot of scary movies for October mostly to cure myself of my wariness of scary movies. When I started this series several years ago, I could barely sit through a scary movie to save my life. Now since doing this series I can say that I am much better. Last year, I decided to attempt to add books to this series. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up completing this series last year, but I have high hopes for this year 😉
On the thirteenth day, today’s movie is Friday the 13th (2009). This is another movie series that came highly recommended by many people. I can’t say that I have seen the original series, don’t judge me too harshly. ( I’m planning on watching it all at some point) Let’s get into this rebooted movie.
Here’s a quick rundown of the movie in case you haven’t heard of it before the movie opens to a camp counselor killing the mother and then someone else picks up the sword and the locket. Flash forward to present when a group of friends go camping at Crystal Lake and then they, but one get murdered by Jason, the girl,Whitney that wasn’t murdered is taken hostage. A month later another group of friends head out to a house near Crystal Lake and they run into Whitney’s brother who has been trying to locate her.
Once again I won’t spoil the ending of the movie, but this is a reboot of the original movie, so a number of things are the same as the original movie. This is also a famous franchise, so it would be good to watch the movie knowing a bit about the franchise. I did appreciate the fact that the new cast was updated to include Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker. Overall, I think that it would have been better if I had seen some of the original movies before watching this one.
Let me know if you have seen this franchise and which one was your favorite. Or if you have any thoughts on other movies that should be a part of this series or recommends that I need to watch let me know. I hope that you are enjoying this post and will keep coming back for more posts throughout the month. See you soon!
