Welcome to the eighteenth day of October! I hope that your year has been going well. If you have been with me a while, you will know that every year I attempt to watch a lot of scary movies for October mostly to cure myself of my wariness of scary movies. When I started this series several years ago, I could barely sit through a scary movie to save my life. Now since doing this series I can say that I am much better. Last year, I decided to attempt to add books to this series. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up completing this series last year, but I have high hopes for this year 😉
On the eighteenthday, today’s movie is Cabin in the Woods. This came as a recommendation from several people and I’m so glad that I had a chance to watch this.
Here’s a quick rundown of the movie: two girls and a two guys leave for a weekend trip at a cabin the woods. When they stop for gas and to get directions they get an ominous warning from the gas station owner, Mordecai. After the group leaves the gas station Mordecai calls a lab to report that the group has checked in. All the while, scientists begin taking bets on how the group will die and have much riding on this experiment going well. Back at the cabin the group begins a game of truth or dare, which leads to the group finding a basement full of random objects and then that’s when things start to get creepy. As if all at once zombies begin to invade the cabin and try to kill the group.
As promised I won’t spoil the ending for the movie for you in case you want to watch it. This movie was definitely a different take on scary movies stating that there could be a magical force controlling the setup behind scary movies and why they occur the way they do. I enjoyed the premise behind this movie, which probably made it twice as scary especially the last 20 minutes of the movie.
Let me know if you have seen this movie and what you thought of it. I hope that you have been enjoying this series even though some of the movies have been bad. I hope that you will continue to stay tuned throughout the month to see what other posts I have planned. See you again soon!
