Welcome to the twenty third day of October! I hope that your year has been going well. If you have been with me a while, you will know that every year I attempt to watch a lot of scary movies for October mostly to cure myself of my wariness of scary movies. When I started this series several years ago, I could barely sit through a scary movie to save my life. Now since doing this series I can say that I am much better. Last year, I decided to attempt to add books to this series. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up completing this series last year, but I have high hopes for this year 😉
On the twenty third day, today’s movie is Child’s Play. This movie came highly recommended by people as one of the scariest movies they saw as a child and also gave them a fear of ventriloquist dummies amongst other things. There has also been a remake, which I might watch at another time or another year. This time we are going to talk about the original though.
Here’s a quick rundown of the movie in case you haven’t heard of it:A criminal named Charles Ray is almost caught during a robbery ,but stumbles into a toy store and performs a voodoo spell placing his body into a Good Guy doll named Chucky. The next day a single mom named Karen buys the doll from a guy in the alley behind the store where she works. Karen ends up giving the doll to her son Andy for his birthday. Soon after strange things begin to happen which include people dying in her son’s presence. Karen does her own research which leads her to the cop who was working the Charles Ray case.
As promised I won’t spoil the ending for the movie for you in case you want to watch it. There were parts of the movie that was creepy and definitely scary, but it wasn’t as creepy as it could have been had a seen it as a child. It will be interesting to see how I feel about the remake when I watch it in the future.
Let me know if you have seen this movie and what you thought of it. I hope that you have been enjoying this series even though some of the movies have been bad. I hope that you will continue to stay tuned throughout the month to see what other posts I have planned. See you again soon!
