For the month of October I’ve dubbed it Scaretober in which I will be blogging every day in October. No, it’s not just random blogs in October but specifically scary movies movies. I’m definitely not one of those girls that enjoys scary movies by any means in fact this is a HUGE challenge for me since I’m such a wimp when it comes down to it. Some of the movies reviewed will be super scary and others will just be 90’s cheesy scary compared to today’s standards. There will be a few days during this month that I will be putting up more than one posts, because sometimes you can’t hold any awesome back when it comes to the blog.
Today’s movie is Darling.
This 2015 short film was one that made an appearance on Netflix. If you have read my series in the past you will know that I have some doubts about the reliability of Netflix. I thought that I would still give it a chance this year.
This is a film told in 6 chapters. When the movie opens it appears a girl named Darling is becoming a caretaker of a New York city apartment. Just as the original owner is leaving she informs Darling that the previous caretaker committed suicide off the balcony of the apartment. The girl then finds a upside down cross in a dresser and soon the hallucinations begin. Darling continues to explore the apartment and finds a door she can not open and a Latin phrase on a rail on the balcony. Darling meets a man while shopping for groceries and thinks that the man is someone else she knows and decides to kill him.
I will keep to my promise and not spoil the entire movie for you. The movie gets darker and stranger as you go through the chapters. I found myself confused throughout most of the movie and suspicious more of the original owner and the apartment. I still can’t quite figure out what Darling saw in the locked room though.
I hope that you enjoyed this selection of the Scaretober series and that you will keep coming back throughout the month to see what other movies I watch. Also if you would like to see what movies that I have watched in the past you can find them here. Also feel free to leave suggestions on videos or movies that you think I should watch. See you soon!
