For the month of October I’ve dubbed it Scaretober in which I will be blogging every day in October. No, it’s not just random blogs in October but specifically scary movies movies. I’m definitely not one of those girls that enjoys scary movies by any means in fact this is a HUGE challenge for me since I’m such a wimp when it comes down to it. Some of the movies reviewed will be super scary and others will just be 90’s cheesy scary compared to today’s standards. There will be a few days during this month that I will be putting up more than one posts, because sometimes you can’t hold any awesome back when it comes to the blog.
Today’s movie is Scream 4
If you have not seen the Scream series then I highly suggest that you watch them or at the very least read my reviews on Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 3. Scream 4 takes place at least 10 years after the conclusion of Scream 3 and since then there have been a series of spin offs to the movie Stab getting up 7. At the beginning of the movie it show a 2 girls who appear to be watching Stab 6 but is really Stab 7 once again introducing the movie within a movie plot. The 2 girls get murdered right around the anniversary of the Woodsboro murders in Woodsboro no less. Sidney Prescott has now published her own book on her life getting away from Ghostface and Dewey & Gale Weathers have been married and living in Woodsboro for the past decade. Sidney comes to Woodsboro to do a press junket for her book , when Ghostface choses to once again torment Sidney and say that he’s not done with her yet. Sidney’s cousin,Jill , is now at Woodsboro high is not completely thrilled that her larger than life cousin has come to town. Ghostface begins his series of murders by murdering Jill’s close friends and torturing them too. Sidney with the help of Gale make an appearance at Woodsboro high’s film club in which we learn the rules to remakes from the film junkies. The final scene culminates at and after party in which we find out that Jill and the film club’s vice president are Ghostface. Jill is determined to get her 15 minutes of fame out of this by being the lone survivor out of this tragedy, so she kills her partner and then nearly kills Sidney. Sidney is put into ICU much to the demise of Jill when she finds out and Jill goes after her once again trying to kill her, but it is Sidney that kills her this time with the assistance of Gale.
This movie had an overly star studded cast, which is unfortunate in the case of the movie and completely unnecessary to the Scream series. Yes, you got to travel back to Woodsboro and see what happens to Gale, Dewey, and Sidney in the future, but aside from the ramble of scary movies, remakes, and sequels I didn’t see this movie adding to the storyline or even successfully rebooting the franchise. I would pass on this movie as part of the Scream series, I also was not that scared while watching it and watching all the movies together left something to be desired by the last in the series. See you tomorrow for another installment in Scaretober!
