Welcome to the sixteenth day of October! I hope that your year has been going well. If you have been with me a while, you will know that every year I attempt to watch a lot of scary movies for October mostly to cure myself of my wariness of scary movies. When I started this series several years ago, I could barely sit through a scary movie to save my life. Now since doing this series I can say that I am much better. Last year, I decided to attempt to add books to this series. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up completing this series last year, but I have high hopes for this year 😉
On the sixteenth day, today’s movie is Secret Obsession. This came as a Netflix recommendation, so that if you have been with me a while you will know that Netflix and I have a very strange relationship. So I will leave this review here.
Here’s a quick rundown of the movie. This movie stars Brenda Song as a girl on the run. At the opening of the movie, we see a girl trying to get away from her stalker when she is hit by the car and then taken to the hospital for her injuries. A guy shows up to the hospital a little while later claiming to be her husband and consoling her while another guy watches from the door. Detective Page shows up to the crime scene after what appears to be birthday gifts for a little girl. Later on it is revealed that Detective Page is still in mourning after the loss of his daughter. Detective Page continues to work the case as the girl, Jennifer gets better. Soon Jennifer is well enough to leave the hospital and her husband Russell takes her to a remote house in the woods. Soon cracks begin to show in Russell’s game as Detective Page continues to search for answers.
As promised I won’t spoil the ending for the movie for you in case you want to watch it. I thought that this movie was a pretty good thriller though at times it was a bit predictable. I loved the dramatic twist in the middle toward the end that changes the ending of the movie quite a bit. This movie did give me some more food for thought regarding stalkers.
Let me know if you have seen this movie and what you thought of it. I hope that you have been enjoying this series even though some of the movies have been bad. I hope that you will continue to stay tuned throughout the month to see what other posts I have planned. See you again soon!
