For the month of October I’ve dubbed it Scaretober in which I will be blogging every day in October. No, it’s not just random blogs in October but specifically scary movies movies. I’m definitely not one of those girls that enjoys scary movies by any means in fact this is a HUGE challenge for me since I’m such a wimp when it comes down to it. Some of the movies reviewed will be super scary and others will just be 90’s cheesy scary compared to today’s standards. There will be a few days during this month that I will be putting up more than one posts, because sometimes you can’t hold any awesome back when it comes to the blog.
Today’s movie is Texas Chainsaw Massacre:the beginning.
I had heard of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie series before, but I didn’t know if this movie was any good. You know some series can turn south really fast. Well, I had high hopes for this movie and this movie did not disappoint.
Here’s the rundown on the movie: This movie done in 2006 open in August 1939 to a woman giving birth in a slaughter house. The baby is thrown out in the dumpster and found by a strange woman who takes him in. The movie flashes forward to July 1969 and the slaughter house has now been condemned and the baby has now grown into a man named Tommy. When Tommy is told that he no longer has a job and belittled by his supervisor he retaliates by killing him. When the sheriff of the town comes to arrest him at his home, the people living with Tommy protect him by killing the sheriff and then taking over as sheriff. In another part of Texas 2 couples, Bailey & Dean and Chrissie & Eric are on a road trip since they got drafted to serve in the Korean War. It soon becomes apparent that Dean does not want to enlist and tries to burn his draft card when the couples have a bad encounter with a biker. The accident kills the biker instantaneously and Chrissie is thrown from the vehicle. The sheriff somehow comes upon the crash and takes all the vehicles back to his place. Once at his place, the couples soon realize that they are in a fight for their lives since it appears that this is not the real sheriff and nothing is as it seems.
I will keep to my promise and not spoil the entire movie for you. It was actually one of the few that actually scared me to death not to mentioned that I was completely horrified by all the killing scenes. If you are of the faint of heart I don’t recommend watching this movie, it has a lot of gore. I guess I can understand why this became a best selling franchise and it would be interesting to see other movies in the series, but I’m not totally bought into this type of horror movie.
I hope that you enjoyed this selection of the Scaretober series and that you will keep following along. See you soon!
