***A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER***
A New York Times Book Review “Editors’ Choice” Entertainment Weekly — Thriller Round-Up The Wall Street Journal — 5 Killer Books for 2016 Hollywood Reporter — Hot Summer Books…16 Must Reads
“This thriller’s all of your fave page-turners (think: Luckiest Girl Alive, The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl) rolled into one.” —TheSkimm
“Both [Gillian] Flynn’s and Miranda’s main characters also reclaim the right of female characters to be more than victim or femme fatale… All the Missing Girls is set to become one of the best books of 2016.” —Los Angeles Review of Books
“Extremely interesting…a novel that will probably be called Hitchcockian.” —The New York Times Book Review
“Are you paying attention? You’ll need to be; this thriller will test your brain with its reverse chronological structure, and it’s a page-turner to boot.” —Elle
Like the spellbinding psychological suspense in The Girl on the Train and Luckiest Girl Alive, Megan Miranda’s novel is a nail-biting, breathtaking story about the disappearances of two young women—a decade apart—told in reverse.
It’s been ten years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared from Cooley Ridge without a trace. Back again to tie up loose ends and care for her ailing father, Nic is soon plunged into a shocking drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and breaks open old wounds long since stitched.
The decade-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Since then, only Nic has left Cooley Ridge. Daniel and his wife, Laura, are expecting a baby; Jackson works at the town bar; and Tyler is dating Annaleise Carter, Nic’s younger neighbor and the group’s alibi the night Corinne disappeared. Then, within days of Nic’s return, Annaleise goes missing.
Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1—from the time Annaleise goes missing, Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.
Like nothing you’ve ever read before, All the Missing Girls delivers in all the right ways. With twists and turns that lead down dark alleys and dead ends, you may think you’re walking a familiar path, but then Megan Miranda turns it all upside down and inside out and leaves us wondering just how far we would be willing to go to protect those we love.

Hello!
I’m back again for yet another book review. I know it may seem like only book reviews when you come here, but at least you know that I’m out of reading slump and trying very hard to make my reading goal for the year.

As you can tell from the title, I recently finished reading All the Missing Girls. I found randomly pick this book up from our library book sale. I didn’t find that much on the first run, but since the book sale is being as a pop-up used bookstore this year, Matt and I might end up going back.

Every now and then I am attracted I am attracted to thrillers and suspense books, though they are never my go to book. I enjoyed the story telling aspect of this book how the author told the story forward from when Nicolette got to town and then backward from the days, while she was in town as if remembering what happened and then forward again realizing everything that happened. It was a bit confusing to follow at first, but once you figured out what was happening it was easier to figure out.

The book was an enjoyable read and I liked it, but I didn’t especially love it and wouldn’t recommend it. I hope that you will stay tuned for more book reviews and other things I decide to post. See you soon!

In a world without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It's a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.
The inspiration for the hit 2005 movie starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving, this amazing graphic novel is packaged with a collectable reproduction of the iconic V mask.

Hello!
Welcome back to the blog! I’m really glad that I have a place to document at least some of the books I read. I never really post reviews about personal development books on here, because in general how you feel about those books truly depend on where you are at in life and what you feel you can get out of them.

Back to the real reason you are here though, the book review. The Creating & Co book club for the Noir Readathon back in February chose V for Vendetta as one of the group books. I’ve been a little out of sync with participating in readathons and specific book clubs read, since a good chunk of 2020 sent me into such a reading slump.

Thankfully Matt found the trade book at one of our local used bookstores recently and decided to snatch it up. I really enjoyed reading it, though it took me longer than I expected for a graphic novel. The graphics of the novel were deep and brooding and the words left me thinking and spiraling in my head. I have also seen parts of the movie though sometime soon I plan on rewatching the movie again, just to see how it compares to the book.

I would definitely recommend the graphic novel if you have only seen the movie. I should warn you that I’m told that like the movie there are definitely some graphic moments so if that isn’t your jam don’t read it. I’m definitely moving right along with reading these days and hope to see you soon with another post!

A breathtaking, enchanting new series by debut author Jessica Townsend, about a cursed girl who escapes death and finds herself in a magical world--but is then tested beyond her wildest imagination.
Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks--and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.
But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.
It's then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city's most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each with an extraordinary talent that sets them apart--an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests--or she'll have to leave the city to confront her deadly fate.
This fast-paced plot and imaginative world has a fresh new take on magic that will appeal to a new generation of readers.

Hello Everyone!
I’m glad that I feel the love of reading back coming back into my life and I’m definitely feeling refreshed. Hopefully other good news throughout the world is right around the corner regarding this pandemic. Let’s back to the real reason why you’re here the book review.

If I’m being perfectly honest I picked up this book from the used bookstore because I thought the cover was fanciful and lovely then I discovered that I had heard about this book from several booktubers that I enjoy watching as well as other bookstagramers that I love.

I loved the fanciful world that Jessica Townsend created and all the skills that each of the Wunder Society candidates have. I loved the idea of the Wundersmith and the character of Jupiter North. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to hear more about the life of Morrigan Crow. I am bummed a bit that it is an ongoing series that I after a few books I will have to wait for books to come out.

I’m excited to be back here and sharing more book reviews with you, so hopefully more coming soon. Let me know if you have read this book or any of the other books in the series. I hope to see you here again soon.

The #1 New York Times bestseller and National Book Award Finalist from the bestselling author of Everything, Everything will have you falling in love with Natasha and Daniel as they fall in love with each other.
Natasha:
I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

"Beautifully crafted."--People Magazine
"A book that is very much about the many factors that affect falling in love, as much as it is about the very act itself . . . fans of Yoon’s first novel, Everything Everything, will find much to love—if not, more—in what is easily an even stronger follow up." —Entertainment Weekly
"Transcends the limits of YA as a human story about falling in love and seeking out our futures." —POPSUGAR.com

Hello Everyone!
I’m back with yet another book review. I had read Nicola Yoon’s Everything, Everything last month read the review here in case you haven’t read it. So, I wanted to read the rest of her books that she has out so far, which is this one. I know that this one was also made into a movie, which I will probably watch at some point.

I loved that this book takes place over the course of one day and all the little things that can add up to bigger moments in a person’s life. I also liked the fact that Nicola Yoon used the same back and forth style in this book as she did with her other book. I also especially liked that she added in the perspective/ mini history of smaller characters throughout the story.

If you haven’t read any of Nicola Yoon’s books I highly recommend that you do. I think they are well crafted and will make you fall in love with your characters quickly. If you hate YA novels or romances at least attempt to give one of these books a chance.

Let me know if you have read this or any of other Nicola’s Yoon’s novels. I hear that she has another one coming out soon. I hope to see you again in another post!

An epic tale across the realms. A deadly power that spans millennia. A story of struggle and betrayal, this adventure is told through the patchwork past of Marvel's most misunderstood mischief-maker of all time: Loki: Trickster. God of Asgard. Brother. This is the first of three young adult novels from New York Times best-selling author Mackenzi Lee that explores the untapped potential of popular characters in the Marvel Universe. The novels focus on exploring the duality of heroism in specific character stories from the Marvel Universe.

Hello!
I’m back once again with yet another book review. I’m glad that I’m finally getting a bit closer to my reading goal for the year. This book was living on Matt’s shelf for at least a year before either one of us really picked it up.

The short version of the story is that I liked it. The longer version of it is that as much as I enjoyed the book, there were also parts of it that I found too long and a bit too elongated for enjoyment. I like to see the beginning of SHIELD or the SHARP society in its tiny glory. It was also interesting to see that Loki had a friend and a love interest in Amora even if just for a time.

I would recommend reading this book if you are interested in getting back into the Marvel Universe, looking for a bit more of Loki’s backstory and looking for a fun YA novel. I personally am looking forward to see where Marvel takes the rest of this book series because a new novel from the Marvel Universe for YA is expected out this year. Also I’m looking forward to the Loki series which is expected out in the near future.

Let me know if you have read this book or plan to read this in the future. I hope to be back soon with another post 🙂
